Every Barracuda Network Protection VSub deployment requires an active Energize Updates subscription to function properly, which includes the base license functionality plus hourly threat definition updates, firmware maintenance, security patches, and 24×7 technical support from Barracuda engineers. Without active Energize, virtual firewalls operate only in demo mode. Add-on subscriptions like Malware Protection, ATP, and Remote Access layer onto the VSub plus Energize foundation.
